Local Mallorcan Delicacies

Pinchos - A small slice of bread topped with a tapa - many varieties.

Sobrasada - Spicy pork sausage.

Sopa Mallorquina - A thick broth made with vegetables, garlic and thinly sliced bread.

Frito Mallorquin - A dish of offal cooked with peppers and herbs.

Tumbet - A dish of aubergines, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes.

Lomo con Col (Llom amb col) - Loin of pork with pinenuts and raisins wrapped in cabbage leaves.

Lechona asada - Roast suckling pig.

Ensaimada - Light sweet pastry dusted with icing sugar usually eaten for breakfast. Large ones sold at bakeries filled with cream, custard or pumpkin jam and boxed for transporting.

Gato de almendras - Almond cake served with almond ice cream.

Hierbas - Locally brewed aniseed flavour liqueur, sweet, semi or dry.

Carajillo con Amazona - Small strong coffee with locally brewed sweet rum or for something more mellow try carajillo with Baileys.
