The 2008-09 season came to a close on Saturday 28 March with the Finals and Presentation evening at the Gran Buffet Restaurant, Son Bugadellas, Santa Ponsa.

The evening was attended by 137 people from nine of the League's 10 teams, only Snoopy's were not represented.

The individual competition kick started the evening and in a very close contest, Trevor from Pink Panther won the title but there was a three way tie for second place between Lesley (Granite City, Barry (Es Trinxet) and Brian (The Crown). In a sudden death play-off, Brian captured the runners-up trophy.

The Knockout Cup was an equally close affair but it didn't seem that way with one round to go as the season's new champions, Pink Panther led The Crown by three points. However, The Crown pulled those three points back to level the sciores at 40-all and they took the trophy by winning on the count back of scores over the last three rounds.

The Handicap Cup was just as close with Leapy's Bar (Handicap 10) pipping Es Trinxet (Handicap 5) to the trophy by one point.

The Crown won the Team's Team of the Year Award for the third year in succession but they were pushed closely for the award by Capones, Leapy's and Es Trinxet.

There was one final award of the evening, and that was the Merit Award, which had not been made for nine years and it was awarded to Mogg of Pink Panther, for recovering from a serious illness 15 months ago to continue to support the League and the Charity Quiz nights at Roosters. Mogg is a founder member of the League and he played on the championship winning side for the first team time this year.

As always, Miguel and his staff providing excellent food, and Ann and Ian Morrison expressed their thanks to Luna Radio for their continued support of the League and to Kate Mentink for presenting the torophies. They also thanks all teams present for making it a memorable and successful year, and here's to 2009-10.
